The Third Chakra, or Solar Plexus energy center, encompasses the ego, willpower, personal power, self-realization, and the relationship with others and society. It governs the direct expression of personality and the initiative that creates fulfillment, as well as the pursuit and achievement of success. A harmonious Third Chakra manages thoughts so that they become actions and makes work fulfilling also on an economic level. Its characteristic color is yellow, and its keyword is “I can.” It is located in the solar plexus area at the level of the diaphragm, between the navel and the sternum. Physically, it is connected to the stomach, liver, spleen, pancreas, gallbladder, small intestine, nails, teeth, muscles, back, immune system, autonomic nervous system, and it controls the body’s thermoregulation. When the Third Chakra is unbalanced or blocked, issues may arise in the stomach, liver, and pancreas; bad breath; immune-related disorders; psychosomatic illnesses; anorexia; bulimia; lack of acceptance of one’s body; anxiety; nervousness; depression; addictions; anger; greed; selfishness; aggressiveness; intolerance; hyperactivity; egocentrism; and a sense of inferiority.
